On Friday, February 13, Railroad Sock was proud to support Kansas City’s annual Love-A-Thon — a powerful community fundraising event benefiting the Love Fund for Children.

Hosted in partnership with WDAF Fox 4, the Love-A-Thon brings together local businesses, media, and viewers to improve the lives of children from newborn to age 18. The Love Fund for Children provides essential goods and services to ensure kids have what they need to thrive — from therapeutic tools and medical equipment to eye exams, beds, clothing, and basic necessities like socks.

During the 8–9 a.m. news hour, Railroad Sock matched viewer donations dollar-for-dollar up to $2,000, helping maximize the impact of the community’s generosity. In addition, we donated 1,000 pairs of youth-size socks — one of the most requested items by the organization.

“One of the most frequent requests that we get is for new clothing, and socks are a big piece of that,” said Dionne Pleasant, Executive Director of the Love Fund for Children. “Socks are winter warmth. Socks help kids participate in athletic activities, and really just enjoy being a child.”

Later that morning, our CEO, Amanda Beech, alongside her partner Angelo, appeared live on Great Day KC to present the donation — including an oversized check and the sock contribution — to Dionne Pleasant on behalf of the entire Railroad Sock team.

For Beech, the moment was deeply personal.

“When I was a child and times were hard, I missed out on some basic necessities. Now that I have the opportunity to give back, I just want to provide for the youth in the community like it was done for me over my life,” said Amanda Beech, CEO of Railroad Sock.

At Railroad Sock, we believe something as simple as a pair of socks can provide comfort, confidence, and care. We are honored to support organizations like the Love Fund for Children that work every day to make a meaningful difference for kids in our community.
